This year our ward hosted a Back to Bethlehem dinner. The kids had so much fun dressing up for the ward party, they wore their pillowcase tunics for days following, running around playing as biblical children.
So, I debated whether or not we should do it again as a family, but the kids convinced me and I went ahead and bought all the food. But then, it seemed like December was just slipping through my fingers and we'd repeatedly plan to do it only to have something else come up. Finally the weekend before Christmas we'd come home late from something and everyone was tired and hungry and I didn't know what to fix for dinner, so as I perused the freezer looking for something quick to fix, my eyes lighted upon the fish I'd bought for the Bethlehem dinner and I realized it takes only 12 minutes to cook swai. 30 minutes later, I had a mediterranean feast set up in the living room and we sat and talked of Christ and the true meaning of Christmas. And I was able to put the stress of the day and bustle of the season away and enjoy the good news of the Gospel as I shared it with my family.
