End of School

Memorial day weekend  we hiked up the Wind Caves with some of the extended family, its one of our favorites hikes and the company just couldn't be beat!

At the beginning of the school year Hyrum's English teacher had them cut a string to their exact height.

Nine months later:

I just can't get over how much he is growing!
He's only thirteen and I'm pretty sure he is going to pass his Dad up this summer!

Clear back in March, we were getting Hollie ready for her first soccer practice, and we had tears.  Serious, streaks down her face, tears of anguish.  Apparently, she just looked too boyish! and those dang sock and shin guards, Ughh!

Finally, we found a girly t-shirt and hat to put with the
ensemble and the world looked a little brighter.  Just a little... holy shmoley drama!
And I was wondering what we'd gotten our selves into.

But then she got to practice and realized everyone looked the same and she ran and kicked the ball and came home with her new uniform and the biggest smile on her face.  Oh, my she loved soccer.  Of all my kids I've never seen one that loved to play like Hollie.

The tall blond girl to the left is her BFF, Jada

and her favorite position was Goalie - and this mom's worst nightmare.

But she was pretty good!

Mark also played Soccer this year and really enjoyed playing with Ashton and having Aunt Jill coach him.  The only downside was that all his games were on the south end of the valley and Hollie's were on the north.   Needless to say having one practice and two games a week per kid, both playing on opposite ends of the valley, I spent a lot of time doing the Soccer Mom thing and yet don't seem to have any pictures of Mark for some reason, maybe Jill does and I can do a re-edit addition.

In other news about Mark, he's talked his Dad into helping him build a go-cart,  Jotham is so patient letting him design it and be the head engineer/builder.  He's now onto model number three.

Grandma and Grandma Hatch also took the kids to the Rock and Mineral Show and
here's a pic of Mark breaking open his geode!  Pretty exciting!

Hannah was very busy with end of school, end of Elementary Activities.

Here's she is portraying Pocahontas at the 5th grade History fair.
It was really fun, everyone dressed up as their historical figure,
and then there was a button sitting on their desk and when you pushed
it they came to life and told interesting facts about their character.

Here she is with her debate partner, Abbie Reese.

As part of the SEM program, they finished off the year with a real debate, she was arguing the affirmative for the 4 day school week.  Although she hated every minute of it, she did really good and learned a lot.  It was a fun surprise when she ended up having to debate her old friends from Park Elementary.

She also played her penny whistle at the talent show.

I guess Gavin isn't up to much worth photo documenting, mostly he was happy to have regular reasons to visit the Park because of soccer and trips to the school to watch the kids in all their activities.  Anything actually to break up the monotony of having to hang out with Mom all day.

And I'll leave you with one of Hyrum's Pictures because its cool!
