Hannah Jo Turns Twelve

Jotham was out of town, stuck in Nashville Tennessee for work (enjoying the
ice storms that literally shut down the city), the day our little girl turned twelve.

We saved the cake and presents until the next day when we could all celebrate together.
I vividly remember my older sister's twelfth birthday when my mom gave her blue eyeshadow and her friends gave her a mind boggling number of aerosol hairspray cans!  So, in keeping with family tradition we gave her beauty products for her birthday: a makeup bag with her own makeup and her own flat iron. She needs another option besides a braid (that she wears everyday) to tame that thick mane of hers.

The afternoon of  her birthday she had friends over to do crafts. The girls laughed over boys and teachers.  They quipped about how their crafts didn't sound very exciting:
"We baked pens, scratched notebooks, and burned spoons"

In reality, they created some pretty cool decorative pens using oven baked clay, used transfers to beautify some notebooks and made roses from plastic spoons. (Thanks pinterest).  Hannah loves to get her craft on and had a wonderful time doing so with friends.   Hannah can be pretty mild mannered, so for some reason I thought her friends would be too, and yes, boy was I surprised.
Can we say "Giggly Teenage Girls"?

The next day all the kids really got involved in the pen making process. Gavin's (the one on the left) especially makes me smile.

Lately, Hanah has really been enjoying bending wire and creating some unique and beautiful necklaces.

What a blessing to watch my dimpled little girl turn into such a beautiful and talented young woman!

  1. Hi Hannah! My birthday is coming up in about a month, and I really like the key necklace. And so you don't think I'm totally selfish, Happy Birthday! I remember as you a tow headed, shy little girl, complete with dimples.
