Gavin had a busy day in Provo on his actual Birthday, so that evening we had a simple dinner and Grandparents came over for cake, presents and a rousing game of superhero fruit basket.
That following Saturday we celebrated in earnest. Leading up to the big day, Gavin spent hours on my lap in front of the computer, telling me to "go back, Go Back, Up, up, up!" as we searched pinterest for ideas.
And let me tell you this kid was full of ideas. The whole week before his party he sat on the counter and helped with every aspect of the preparation: making the cupcakes and toppers, adhering the letters to the capes, mixing and pouring jello and had his hands all covered in the flour paste making the pinata. It was literally his party and he wasn't going to miss out on any of the fun.
Gavin had such a good time at Mark's last spy party, he mostly
wanted to modify many of the same games to meet the new superhero theme.

Nerf target shooting
Red ribbon lazer maze
Green Lantern pinata
Pretty sure all the kids had a great time.
My big kids got into the spirit and were such a big help.
They lunched on Captain America shaped pizza shields and fancy superhero layered jello.
Of course the chocolate fountain always makes for a great party.
Gavin's best bud Eli Shauffer had his tonsils out five days before the party,
so his mom tagged along to make sure he didn't over do it and let me tell you it was pretty
sweet to have her here helping and taking pictures.
For the grand finale, they had a silly string war on the driveway.
Oh, Gavin had a such good time!
After the party:
I was super frustrated on his actual birthday when I couldn't find one
the presents I'd hidden away, he was still pretty tickled when I finally found it later that night.
Some fun things about our five year old Gavin:
He's already started reading, honestly he's pretty bright and picks things up quickly,
school will come easy for him, he's told me he's ready to go to Kindergarten,
(something I am definitely not looking forward to.)
Jotham reads to him every night from this five minute superhero story book. He loves it!
At the end of his story he tells Jotham to go and "get the Aliens"
- and of course Jotham does, as he heads out to feed the horses.
Every morning as Jotham heads out the door to work Gavin recites:
"I love to the treehouse on the clouds and back!"
Ditto, kiddo,
We love you to the treehouse on the clouds and back!
Adorable party as always! My mom once misplaced a gift of my sisters...it was one of those now music CDs...she found it years later and it was like a blast from the past.
