We sat in the truck for 15 minutes waiting for the down pour to clear, then the sky was still dark and kind of iffy but we decided to chance it. We were rained on, and endured a spring snow that turned into a hail. My horse refused to walk straight near the end, insisting it would be better to keep the wind at his back. But it was worth it. Oh, so worth it.
The air smelled of spring, of blossoming trees, fresh and clean.
The creek roared with raging spring run off,
The earth was alive and green.
And I was with the love of my life,
Doing what makes him happiest
in the very spot he changed my world with one little question.
He'd sat me down on a log that is long since gone, got down on one knee
and asked if I wanted to walk down the path of life with him.
and asked if I wanted to walk down the path of life with him.
He pointed to the bend in the trail behind me and said
he wasn't sure what was around that next bend,
he wasn't sure what was around that next bend,
but he knew he wanted to find out with me by his side.
Shame on me for not saying yes that night.
Together we've traversed a few bends in the road
and that path hasn't always been easy or smooth.
But together we've smelled so many beautiful blossoms along the way
and that path hasn't always been easy or smooth.
But together we've smelled so many beautiful blossoms along the way
and learned to put our back to the wind and weathered a few spring storms.
and I'd do it all over again - just to have him at my side!
Oh, what a lovely tribute, Happiest of Anniversaries!
