Closner Reunion

Mom started planning and stressing over this reunion last year, it felt like it was a long time in the making. In the end, her only sibling able to attend was Aunt Lillian. We missed Aunt ChristyAnn and Uncle Brett who were both struggling with heath issues.

Although there were a few holes in the family tree, there was no lack of cousins.

Cousins, cousins everywhere...

Bear Lake never disappoints.

and did I mention cousins?

Never a dull moment...

well maybe...

We camped up Immigration Canyon,
next to a brook that kept the little people entertained
when Uncle Joe's tailgate was closed.

Mark came late because he was finishing up his merit badges down the road at Camp Bartlet.
Hyrum had work, dance and too many MH rehearsals and had to miss the whole reunion.

On Saturday, we headed into Montpelier to do a few
family history activities.

We did a photo scavenger hunt of G.G. Closner's childhood homes and places of interest, like the church where they met.  Our family was on the grumpy side and didn't finish the game.  We all met back up at the cemetery afterwards with activities focused on those buried there.  We had homemade rootbeer for Gr. Closner and had little plastic toy snakes and a pair of scissors for G.G.Grandma Harriet "Lizzie" Orchard.  She chopped off the the head of a rattle snake coiled between the head of her sleeping boys with a pair sewing scissors while living in Arizona.

A little service project thrown in for good measure.

After the cemetery we headed into town and visited the Bank of Montpelier made famous by Butch Cassidy getting away with the safe contents.

We also stopped at the Paris Tabernacle and enjoyed a tour.

But mostly we hung out at camp and enjoyed visiting.

Happy Reunion!
