Feliz Navidad

When Jotham said he'd gotten our family tickets to the Nutcracker, I was like... WHAT?  You spent money one what?  Are you freaking kidding me?  What a complete and utter waste!  The last time I'd attended the Nutcracker was on a field trip with one of the kids and I was bored to death with the abbreviated version we were watching, I wasn't sure I was up to spending one of very my limited December evenings dedicated to it, let alone spend money doing it.

BUT, he explained the tickets were free and from from a co-worker and so I tried to be the excited and supportive wife I want to be and so we went and had a marvelous time, amazing, really with a top-notch production at the Eccles Theater.  Honeslty, everybody really enjoyed it except Mark and after watching the ballet dancer's do the Russian cossack dance with the kicks I suggested Hyrum start ballet when he came home, but he said no, the tights were just a little too tight.

Our Back to Bethlehem dinner is still an annual favorite of mine.

We enjoyed choir and band Christmas concerts, Galore!

Then the weekend before Hyrum left I was heavily involved in our ward Christmas party that Friday.

The Hatches celebrated together on Saturday.

Hyrum's farewell was on Sunday and we were blessed with so many family and friends coming to support Hyrum and what a treat to have both sets of grandparents at Hyrum's setting apart later that evening.

We were blessed to have both sets join us for Christmas Eve dinner too.

It was truly a blessing being surrounded by so much family,

it almost made up for the hole Hyrum left.

Almost.

My parents even spent the night with us at our house for the first time EVER on Christmas Eve and hung around Christmas day.

That was a highlight in and of itself, but my favorite thing however was our Christmas morning visit with Hyrum.  He was so incredibly radiant.  To know he was thriving in the Mexico CCM (MTC) was the best gift Jotham and I could have received.

Imagine our surprise when the CCM posted a picture of Elder Hatch
celebrating at a pinata break later that afternoon.

Gavin spend Christmas morning putting together his new Lego set.

The girls both really enjoy their new Ukuleles.

Mark is a Happy teen now, with a cell phone to call his own.

It was a good Christmas!
