Percy Jackson

Party planning with Gavin is like dealing with my mini-me.

He dreams big and I had a hard time wrapping my head around his ideas.
Jotham loved turning the table and letting me experience what its like to deal with me and my big ideas.

In the end I think we accomplished his vision.

His PLAN:

Some key elements included Thalia's Tree and a big Camp Half-Blood banner.

So we saved our Christmas tree for three weeks, just for his party.

Please take note of the dessert table:

Blue food and original art work by Gavin himself.

Grandpa thought we might have over-done the blue food coloring
and to be honest, he was probably right.

Aunt Jill was a saint and helped me make some shirts.
He LOVED them.

We hid them inside the home-made Centaur pinata.

They decorated shields in honor of Hephaestus,
for Athena we tackled some logic games,
 for Dionysus we ate breakfast,
then in honor of Poseidon we searched for sea shells while holding our breath
and last of all we played capture the flag.
Because well, it was a Percy Jackson party.

The only downer to his party was that not one of his guests had read the books.
One guest said to me "Oh, I get it, you're having a Blue party" - Umm no, not quite.
One had seen the movie a long time ago and another one had recently read a book about mythology but that was it.  All that effort and book references were lost on them.

But thankfully, it wasn't lost on the Birthday Boy!

He loved every minute of it.

Oh, its great to be NINE!
