The last day of our Spring Break Trip, Jotham's boss reached out to him and asked him if he'd consider relocating to Michigan for a possible promotion. He felt it was a long shot, they were looking for a brand president for small franchising company they'd just acquired.
But he was intrigued, to say the least.
It sounded like it could be a good opportunity.
So we researched the area and Jotham had a couple of phone interviews. Then two weeks later they flew us out to see the area, meet with a realtor, tour the facilities and to interview in person.
It also happened to be our anniversary weekend, so we tried to have a little fun.
But Michigan was still locked down pretty tight due to COVID restrictions.
Reservations were required to eat out most places that were not fast-food, so that combined with
Jotham's special diet and we were glad to have a kitchenette in our hotel room and still enjoyed some good eats.
One morning, we went on a little trail and enjoyed all the beautiful lakes and trees.
Ann Arbor was interesting because 20 minutes one way and
you are on dirt roads with large home lots and acreage.
20 minutes the other direction and you felt like you were inner-city
It was a stressful weekend to say the least. My favorite bit was attending church on Sunday.
We met some amazing members, they were so kind and helpful, we even had several invitations to visit them in their homes to talk about the area and what it was like raising kids there. So helpful.
All in all, we felt good about the area and the 6 hour long interview. There was peace and we could see ourselves finding happiness there. We definitely like/love Cache Valley better but Jotham has needed a change in his employment for a while and this felt like it could be the answer we've been praying and patiently waiting for.
He was told he was their top candidate and they'd be in touch on Friday.
Friday came and went. And in the end, it didn't work out.
They choose to go a different direction and offered the position to another individual already
working within that franchise network.
So now, although, one door closed, we are waiting for another one to open.
But let's be honest the kids were beyond relieved that we didn't have to move,
despite Jotham's initial disappointment.
Meanwhile...
That same weekend, Mark and Hannah enjoyed their girls-choice dates for the Spring Fling Dance.
I think Mark giggled the whole night and had a great time, despite the fact that his girl-crush asked his best buddy instead of him and her good friend, Annalee, took him all in the same group.
And Hannah and Hunter had so much fun, that in addition to the dance and the day date,
they also did a post-dance date as well the following week.
