Cheap Skate or Thrifty?

I like to think I'm such an indulgent mother, treating my children to all the finer things in life.  For example just yesterday afternoon:

I took my children to the theatre
Actually read - we attended Hollies first dance recital at the old folks home

I took my children out to dinner
Actually read - we had free hot dogs at the car dealership

I drove my children around in luxurious style
Actually read - we test drove some pretty fancy cars.

Post Script: Just for the record, we were actually doing some car shopping and it doesn't take much to be fancier than reality in which I drive around in a 2000 Dodge Caravan that shows the effects of my challenged driving ability (which includes, but, is not limited to, hitting two inanimate objects within the last 6 months) and not to mention has left us stranded more than once since Christmas.

I took my children to the amusement park
Actually read - I drove through the automatic carwash

ahhh.... the good life... they felt utterly spoiled and all without breaking the bank!  Cheap skate or thrifty? Its definitely a fine line.
