May Happenings

We have no yard

yet,

and an appliance store is one of our nearest neighbors,

so,

a cardboard shanty town is where the fun's at!

Jotham finally sucombed and bought Mark (and himself) a basketball hoop.
Now they can spend time together "making hoops," as Mark likes to say.

Hollie's been good to help me in the flower beds and keep me company while working outside. Grandma Hatch made her this beautiful pink sweater.  After, I promised not to felt it like I did the last one.  She knit it out of washable wool this time, just in case.

We've had a lot of raining days, so one afternoon while Gavin napped, Hollie and I had ourselves a little tea party.

And speaking of rainy days...

Reading is a good thing, usually, but its become a little excessive for Hannah.
She been disappearing for hours and hours and hours on end.
We've had to set some limits.

She's been working toward her Great Utah Award which requires running 29 miles.
Out of the girls in her grade, she placed second in the mile run which qualified her for the Skyview Mile, her first track meet.  Yeah! Go, Hannah!

On Memorial Day weekend, we received some free sod and guess who our best helper was?
After Gavin unrolled one roll, he would clap his hands, shout "More" and then head to the
truck to get the next roll.  If I had more two year olds I'm sure we'd have a lot more done.

Hyrum must not be up to much, since I don't have any pictures of him.  Lately, he spends a lot of time on the computer visiting and emailing with friends (mostly of the female variety).  We did go to a Breakfast of Champions last week where he was honored for his good grades.  We ate "honor rolls" and he received a box Wheaties,  you know the "Breakfast of Champions."  He received an academic medal that looked awfully familiar.  You'd think after 20 plus years they'd get new medals, but no.  He can add his medal to my box of identical metals downstairs, if he wants.

And last but not least, my Mother's Day self-portrait.

. The other day, I was helping LoaLee clean out her utensil drawer and discovered that Darren often gives her kitchen gadgets and utensils as tokens of love, which explains why she had over ten spatulas.  I think its awfully sweet and explained why the drawer is always overflowing.  Anyway, this year, Jotham went out town on Mothers day, but not before helping the kids give me breakfast in bed and presenting me with a handful of kitchen utensils (like father like son), including some small appetizer tongs, something I've wanted for a long time.  But I had to laugh, because this was the second time Jotham has bought me these exact same tongs and probably the second time I'll return them.  But its the thought that counts, right?
