Thanks to the Martin Harris Pagent our family felt homebound all of August, finally the weekend after school started we headed to Blackfoot to float the river in canoes with the Hammonds. The wildfires left the sky dark and you could taste the smoke, we almost canceled our trip, so glad we didn't. I was a ball of nerves as we started out, not really in control of the boat, Jessica was so patient with me. Hyrum and Joseph soon grew tired of their slow chopped off canoe, but Hannah and Naomi were as upbeat and happy as could be just zigging and zagging this way and that across the river. The Snake River was low and slow so late in the season and the same trip took longer than usual so after four hours of paddling everybody was more than so ready to be off the river. Don't get me wrong we had a nice time, but it was looooong. The Hammonds are always such good company.
